Courses Elite Men Road Race

14 Laps
28 of September of 2014
More than any other day, September 28, 2014 will be a big feast in Ponferrada. A bike and cycling festival. That day, Ponferrada as well as El Bierzo, the province of León, the Community of Castile and Leon and whole Spain will be watching the Cycling World Championship because nobody ignores the Spanish riders will do their best to win the title. Especially after what happened in Florence when the gold medal eluded them. They will for sure be seeking for revenge.
Not only Spain but the entire planet will follow Ponferrada queen race. Cycling is indeed a global sport. Many countries and national federations will have a strong chance of winning.
Despite the fact the riders have to complete 14 laps and that the total altitude difference reaches 4.284 m, the climb to the reservoir of Bárcena is indeed not really a tough one. Moreover the ascent is perfectly asphalted. It means that powerful riders should be able to respond to the climbers’ attacks.
In the absence of Oscar Freire and before its home crowd, Spain will have no other choice tan launching attacks with ‘Purito’ and Valverde. Italy and several other teams will do the same if they want to drop riders like Peter Sagan, who could make the best out of the downhill leading to the finish and out of the sprint.
